It was my good fortune that my path through this world and to the next placed me in a position to speak with Admiral Vampirerose, a noted Jenquai Defender of my guild, The Hearts of Starlight and Darkness. We discussed, at length, various strategies and tactics for young Jenquai following the path of the warrior. I meditated on her teachings then merged them with my own experiences and developed an approach that has thus far served me well. Though I have not reached the same lofty levels as Admiral Vampirerose nor other Jenquai Warriors that I have met, I feel I have reached a state of enlightnement that permits me to share these insights in hopes that others may find of value on their own personal journey.

In general, weapons tend to lay out like this, missiles have a great reach, good damage, but slow rate of fire. Guns have a medium reach, low damage, and high rate of fire. Beams have a short reach, great damage, and medium rate of fire. There are certain weapons that violate these general statements but they are exceptions.

In the spring time of your journey, when you are newly walking your personal path, you will be weak and inexperienced. Training in missiles and guns will serve you best. The great range will allow you to assult tougher opponents yet remain at a distance that will prevent many enemy from striking back at you.

As you move into summer, the high rate of fire of the guns is overshadowed by the reach of the missiles, and you should focus your studies there. As the grow you seek tougher opponents, and the tougher opponents have weapons with greater ranges. The missiles allow you to remain just our of their reach.

During these early journies, do not neglect your beams. They are a Defender's greatest weapon. With the experiences you've had, you will eventually enter the season of your greatness. It is at this time you should use your beams exclusively. Further, once you are confident with beams, you can seek out the newly available gene remapping to recover the training in missile and guns to enhance your other skills.

Thus far, we have spoken of weapons only. But a good warrior uses more than just weapons. You must study your engineering. Understand your ship's systems, engines, reactors, and shields. These will help you withstand the damage you take facing opponents up close, as you must with beams.

Also, use your stealth to your advantage. Master your ability to cloak. Not only will it hide you from their searching eyes, it will give you the benefit of a stealth attack with your beams.

The final key skill to study is your Psi Shield. This mystical training will allow you to repel incoming attacks with no damage to your ship or its systems, not even draining your shields. Learn to blend the technology of the mundane world with the power of your mystical heritage to become a truely powerful warrior.

This is not to say you should neglect your other assets, such as the ability to critically damage your opponents or drain away their energy, these too are valuable assets in your arsenal of skills, but they fall behind the core combat skills.

It is my hope that these words will give you some insight into Jenquai Defender battle tactics and that you will be able to merge them with your own experiences to find your unique path through this world and to the next.
