der Todesengel, Alpha Centauri

In a quiet corner of the newly opened der Todesengel, or "Death Angel" Sector lies a mysterious anomaly that the locals call "the Green Fire". Upon hearing of this strange phenomenon I rushed out to be the first reporter to dig up the news on this new scientific development.

After completing a detailed search of the sector without a trace of any Green Fire, I opened a channel to my fellow explorers, and asked if anyone had indeed seen this anomaly. Several had indeed seen the green fire, with a research ship parked at its event horizon, all but one had been quickly whisked away to various other parts of the known galaxy as if being worm holed.

One pilot that had actually spoken with the sole occupant of the research vessel, Doctor Anita Roniday, said that the doctor was very busy and apparently did not want to be disturbed. After only a brief conversation both Dr. Roniday and the Green Fire mysteriously disappeared. The only clue that presented itself during this research, was how the pilots had chosen to approach the anomaly. From what was said, it seems that anyone that attempted to warp to the event was summarily dumped into another sector. The pilot that had gotten to speak with her had used their impulse drive and had not experienced this.

Armed with this theory, I once again took up the hunt for the Green Fire. After hours of searching, and wondering about the existence of space Opossums, I was about to abandon my quest when the onboard scanners picked up the transponder signal from Dr. Roniday's ship. Carefully resisting the urge to engage the warp engine for faster travel, I slowly made my way towards the Green Fire.

At first glance it appeared to be little more than a low level gas cloud, but then my ships censors noted that the object had defensive capabilities, limited as they were. Knowing of the Dr.'s tight-lipped nature, I decided to try a few of the devices laying around my hold on the fire itself. I tried the Coma first, and then a Chimera, but the computer told me both I had an invalid target. Kicking myself for not bringing a Datacom or some other non-aggressive device, I then decided to speak with the good Doctor. The details of our short conversation elude me, but suffice it to say that she really wants to keep any knowledge of the "Green Fire" to herself. After she abruptly closed the comm channel, both her and the anomaly vanished into the vacuum of space, leaving me with few answers and many questions.

As I uncover more information on this intriguing phenomenon, be sure that I will keep you in the know.
